Encourage: Paul As Our Example

Whew! I'm back in the game. It's been a while since I have joined the Faith Jam!

When I think about Encouragment *that's the topic for you (non) Faith Jammers*, I think about Paul. Who else has written letter after letter encouraging the churches he has moved away from? Is it a coincident that we use verses from those letters to encourage each other? The words Paul once wrote to lift up, challenge, and reprimand the Philippians, Ephesians, Colossians and ect are accomplishing the same things today. That says a lot about the power of those words. Take Philippians for example:

Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,To all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. Phil 1:1-11

This is one of the many, similar greetings Paul uses in his letters to the churches. It's evident he cared about people. Deeper into his letters, you find the meat, the stuff that convicted and encouraged. Hebrews 4:12 says, For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. You want to encourage each other? Go to the word> It has the power to change people.

I'm a big fan of enouragement! It's a necessity in the body and relationships in general.

So from a lady who finds herself needing encouragement, more times than not, don't neglect encouraging the people in your lives. :)

In His Name,
Jennifer

Welcome back to the Jam. You did well in choosing Paul to write about on the topic of encouragement! He certainly was an encourager.

Katie, thank you! I've learned I'm not much encouragement apart from the Word. :)
