You're the traveler and you've hiked this mountain before. The trail is long. With a heavy load, you wonder how far you will travel before you give in under the weight. You push through the burn, but the burden on your shoulders is causing your body to bend forward in defeat.
I've been there. The trial was long and my shoulders were feeling the pain of my heavy burdens. In weariness, I moved forward, each step shooting pains in my heart. I would carry the burden until I could not force my feet to take another step. I cried out to God asking for help to make it, as long as I could continue to hold on to the burden. The weight was not important. I was unable to let go. For reasons unknown, it seemed more beneficial for me to carry the weight as long as I could than to hand it over to God. It may have appeared to be the "easy" approach, but it only left me weary.
Jesus says,
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will for rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
Rest for the weary is His offer. You're yoke is heavy- He knows. In love, He offers us a light burden for the trail. You have a choice. I have a choice. Will we keep carrying burdens that only keep us down, or will we come to Him to find rest?
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1
In His Name,
Jennifer

I am weary-worn today, Jennifer. So much to do; so little desire to do any of it. I need the kindness and tenderness of God to rest upon me.
Thank you for this reminder.
