"Jennifer, sit up straight"

Confession: I had a slouching problem as a pre-teen. But then again, don't most insecure teeny-boppers? Another story for another day. Anywho, my mom would consistently tell me to sit up straight.
{Thanks, mom, without you I would be a humpback woman at twenty-four}
My mom was concerned for my posture. I wonder how many of us now still think about our physical posture, and how few of us think about our spiritual posture.
How's your posture?
Do you give thought to how you come before God? Hebrews 4:16 says, Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. To come before the throne with confidence is our inheritance. Coming before the throne in arrogance, however, is not
We have an awesome privilege to be in God's presence with our praise, our needs, and our thanksgiving. Grace covered, we can come and lay all that weighs heavily on us down at His feet.
Do we position are hearts in this way?
Are we submissive to the working of God's hand in our day to day?
Do we position ourselves to be in the best posture for God's will to be worked out in our lives?
Are we open to the work God wants to do today?
How's our posture?
It's minute by minute. It's eyes heavenward. It's trust in His goodness.
At this place in my life, as it will be for the rest of my life, it is vital that my posture be one of submission. His plans are so intricate, so detailed- just read here (too cool story from the recent Colorado shooting). I want to honor Him by living according to that will. You too?
Well then, sit up straight (insert name here___)!
Not easy, folks, but we can do it!
In His Name,
Jennifer

I had a slouching problem growing up; still do. This is a great parallel you draw to our spiritual posture. I always want to approach the throne of grace in humility and with a heart willing to submit to God's authority.
You're a great writer, Jennifer. I pray you know the love of Jesus in rich measure and that you're seeing the fruits of your faithful obedience. Life doesn't always go as planned, but God always goes with us. He's never left me, not for a single moment.
Keep pressing on and pressing in, sister. I believe in your heart!

I still slouch too, Elaine. May be that it's my limp from insecurity. But I don't want to slouch in His presence. Humility? Yes. Insecutity? No.
Thanks for your sweet encouragement. You have been so good to me since the beginning of this blog!
I believe in you, and I'm so proud of you for showing up, even when the desire to do so is "missing in action".
:) Jenn
