Get Your Gear- We're Going Treasure Huntin'

Riley Poole: Why can't they just say, 'go to this place, and here is the treasure; spend it wisely'
(National Treasure)

Since I was a kid, I have loved treasure hunting movies, except I've never seen the Indian Jones' movies. Please hold your stones. I was a little sexist in my love for treasure hunting movies. It was the ones with female heroines that were my favorite. Hey, it's what I could relate too. If she was female, I could pretend I was her. Ladies, you know you did it too. Well, National Treasure broke the mold for me. {I realized men could actually treasure hunt too- I kid.} Riley is my favorite character. He's great comic relief. If you've never seen the movie. You should do that today. You'll love Riley too.

Today, it hit me how much I really do love treasure hunting movies, which is cool and everything, but "why?". What draws me to these movies. Sure, I like a little adventure in my life, but I'm no dare devil. I don't know. I guess it may have something to do with the fact that I'm not a dare devil. Adventure movies are somewhat of a way to live in that world without living in that world. Before you check out on me, this posts is not about me living vicariously through folks on the big screen.

I'm thinking about all of us. We're on a hunt for treasure. Guess what? That's okay, if we are hunting for the right thing.

My son, if you receive my words
and treasure up my commandments with you,
 making your ear attentive to wisdom
and inclining your heart to understanding;
 yes, if you call out for insight
and raise your voice for understanding,
if you seek it like silver
and search for it as for hidden treasures,
 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
 For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
 he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
 guarding the paths of justice
and watching over the way of his saints.
Then you will understand righteousness and justice
and equity, every good path;
 for wisdom will come into your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
 discretion will watch over you,
understanding will guard you (Proverbs 2:1-11),

People are searching for acceptance, for success, for security, for peace, for fame, but we've missed the greatest hunt of all. The hunt that leads to acceptance, success, security, peace is found in seeking Jesus Christ. The treasure we hunt for is Jesus Christ.

Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually (Psalm 105:4)!

I don't know about you, but I need Him desperately.

In His Name,
Jennifer

This is the third time I've come across these verses this week. I think maybe He's trying to tell me something.
