Dancing in the Shadow

He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart (Psalm 91:4)

There is a security in a covering. In the same way we hide under the covers in a storm or snuggle under a blanket during a movie, we are covered by a Holy covering- a divine security. In this shadow we are free to dance. We are safe, not because life is safe, but because of are refuge is safe. Our God is on a heavenly throne, in a Holy dwelling, and yet, He covers us with His wings. So dance.

We live a limited life. We move as cowards. We hide, not in a divine shadow, but a pit of fear and what ifs.

Limited.

Come what may we can dance, live, and sleep in our covering. I have in my head this picture of girl dancing with her head thrown back and arms raised dancing in a shadow.

Secure. Confident. Loved. Free. Joyful.

Sound like perfection? Unreachable? You don't know my life....

It does kind of seem that way, and no, I don't.

But

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).

It comes when we deny our feelings. When we make a choice to believe the Truth. When we discipline ourselves to study the Truth. When we know our place- His place. From there, we realize that we are secure, loved, and free. We have reason to be confident and joyful.

We are covered.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1).

Rest.

In His Name,
Jennifer
