Compassion- A Letter to God

God,

There is so much brokenness, so much hunger, and so much injustice. I'm overwhelmed by it all that I have no idea how to help. Kids roaming the streets looking for food. Families dying for lack of basic medical care. Uneducated Parents are helpless to do better for their children. With little hope of school for the kids, the cycle continues. You see them, right?

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee (Psalm 139:7-12).

There's heavy darkness, Lord. Be the light that brings to sight the havoc of poverty. God, I don't know what to do, but what I have in my hand to do. Please, be close to those precious people all over the world who are inflicted with poverty. You are their hope. Give your people wisdom, boldness, and motivation to be the solution. Use us to bring that Hope to their doorsteps. Don't allow us to get comfortable in our lives so much that the needs of others are lost on us. Open our eyes. God, open my eyes.

I love you, Lord. Thank you that we are never far from your thoughts. Help us, Lord.

I ask these things in Jesus precious name. Amen.

I've heard it said, "Be the change you want to see". Easier said than done, right? I'm easily overwhelmed by the pain of this life. May guess is you probably are too. One thing I've learned is I can't do it all. I can't play superwoman and save the world. Jesus has already taken the Savior of the World title, rightfully so. What I can do is look at my life and ask myself, "What do I have in my hand to do"? How can I use my time, my talents, my money, my life? I'm writing this post because this is what I can do today. One small act for one huge problem. In the hands of God, it becomes one divine step.

As you know, this month is big month for Compassion Bloggers. We have a big goal of 3108 sponsorships for the month of September. Woohoo! That is a lot of children that will receive hope for their futures in Jesus name. Please pray today and ask God how you can help. We can all do something. It's not the size of what we do, but the size of the God behind what we do. If you would like to sponsor a child today, just click the Compassion link above to get started.

This is a great post! I struggled with this assignment! I loved what you had to say!

Most times, I can't leave a comment on blogs that ask for a captcha phrase, but here's hoping!

I did too. There was a lot I wanted to say, but I didn't know how to say it. Such a heavy prayer to put into words.

Yay- it worked!! :)
