Swingin' and Thinkin'

Tonight I was swinging in the swing in our backyard- it's how I chill when the air is cool enough to sit outside. I was thinking about what I read this morning. Genesis chapter one and verse two says, Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. The earth was formless, empty, and covered in darkness. Those words reminded me of my heart before Christ. Were not all of our hearts formless, empty, and dark before God shown light into our darkness?

My mind moved along to our "newness" in Christ: Therefore, if anyone in in Christ, he is a new creation; the old is gone, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17). What was once dead, void, empty, and dark is made new.

Then my mind went back to Genesis. When God breaths life into Adam, the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being (Genesis 2:7), he became a living being. Did we not also become alive spiritually when, through His grace, God breathed His Spirit into us?

To see the grace of God in our lives is a beautiful thing, especially while swinging in the backyard.

In His Love,
Jennifer

I love when verses you have read many times become real and speak truth in a new way. Its beautiful, and what you wrote is so true! I just wish those who have not had that breath of life could know the fullness they are missing without Christ.

Also, I wanted to tell you thank you so much for sharing Bethany's link on your blog! Clicking over and seeing her face on your page made my day :)

You're right! There are many people that don't know His life giving breath. It's a tragedy....You are most welcome! After reading her story on your blog, I had to share!
