I have to admit I never really knew what meekness looked like. Maybe you don't either. So, here is a the definition as defined by World English Dictionary (here):
1. patient, long-suffering, or submissive in disposition or nature; humble
2. spineless or spiritless; compliant (I don't get this one- not biblical)
3. an obsolete word for gentle
It's a submission to the sovereignty of God. When we understand the awesome love and sovereignty of our God, it becomes easier to submit in meekness to Him. Meekness says, I know I'm not in control, and I entrust myself to Your will, Lord. After a hard year, I'm learning to set {my} mind on things above and I'm finding peace in yielding to His plans. It's not easy and today I have been really challenged in my efforts. But I can't let go, because things are starting to make since.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time (1 Peter 5:6)
I'm humble that God would be so patient with my control issues.
Here's me praying you find peace in the sovereignty of our God.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth (Matthew 5:5)
In His Name,
Jennifer

What an awesome post on staying humble and being meekness. You don't see to many people having the spirit of meekness these day because they view it as being easy but if they only knew it takes a meek person to be strong.
I love Kay Arthur! I haven't read that one yet, but I see it on my Grandma's bookshelf all the time... maybe I'll check it out over the break.
Well, thank you, Desiray! Meekness also has a bad reputation as being weak. But like you said it takes Meekness to be strong. Meekness submits to His strength. :)
Becca, it is awesome! You should definitely check it out!
