Settle Me

"For such a time as this"

Have we heard it enough? Whenever we wonder why we are where we are, or whenever new adventures come our way, someone will usually say, "for such a time as this". In fact, I've been known to say it a lot. There's a power-punch of truth in that tiny statement. Do we not believe that everywhere our feet land is for such a time as this? Are we acutely aware that the God of this universe, sitting high on His throne, is personally involved in our lives? One trip down memory lane, and I can see God's hand in my life from the moment I was born to this new place I find myself. He never took a break- for such a time as this.

Though I know I'm here for this season, which only God will determine, I'm praying, "Lord, settle me". You may think that's a funny prayer, maybe you think it's wrong to pray to be settled, or confusing even. Let me clarify. When I pray, "Lord, settle me", I'm really saying, "Lord, settle my heart here, use me here, unify us with the people here, delight me here, and move here, in me, in Your way". I love it here, but there is a time of adjusting. I'm new, and it takes time to work that out. Patience is needed to be affective- I'm lacking in that department.

You may not be new where you are- that may be the problem, huh? Even with differing situations, the truth is the same. God is a for such a time as this God. I guess being settled is another form of contentment. You could also say it's a rising to the occasion, in that it is also active. Let's rise to the occasion, folks. Where you are, and where I am there are people who need to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The church needs to be built. That's what should keep me going- the church of Jesus Christ needs to be built, the lost need a Savior, and the broken need healing. As believers, it's time to get settled in the call of Jesus Christ, in our for such a time as this moments.

I'm a work in progress, friends, so far from where I should be, and yet so far from where I once started. Praise the Lord! This new season will require bravery. I can feel it in my bones {sorry, I'm from the south. We say things like that}. I wasn't going to share this, but why not. I wrote in my journal earlier a very similar comment/prayer:

God, I know you have called me here "for such a time as this". I don't know what this journey will entail, but I have a feeling it's going to include a good deal of bravery.

I leave you with that, folks. Wherever you are may call for a great deal of bravery. Just remember it's in risks of faith that we see God's power. Look for where God is moving and be there.

You'll find me here {Lord, help me} taking risk with you.

Hey thanks for posting this. It's just what I needed. I often try to rush ahead, wondering what the future's going to be. It's good to be 'in the moment' and find God there. Every step of the way.
