"Pumped": My New Favorite Word

"I'm so pumped"

Today I performed my own little experiment on my own self. Weird, right? My hypothesis was that saying I'm so pumped over and over all day would lead to me actually being pumped. I don't know about you guys, but every time I hear someone say pumped. I get a little excited. Maybe, pumped is not your word. Maybe "stoked" ,"thrilled",  or "excited" is more your style. Whatever. It really doesn't matter. The point is I did begin to get pumped about my day. Of course, that is how I always want to live my life, but struggle sometimes at staying motivated. You know, mornings and not so fun circumstances make that hard. Somehow, five o'clock in the morning just doesn't seem like the appropriate time to be "pumped".

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13).

Repeating that one little phrase, I'm so pumpedwas not the secret ingredient in getting pumped about my seemingly mundane day. Sure, I probably said I'm pumped at least twenty times today, but that really wasn't what did it for me. That simple phrase was only part of the equation. What made the eternal (I mean that literally) difference was reminding myself that God, my Savior, is on the Throne and that He is constantly at work. It's more about more than a silly phrase. It's about keeping perspective. When I focused on the truth that God is always working, I had a reason to be excited. I was looking for Him. I wanted to see where He was working, and I wanted to join Him in what He was doing around me. What could be just another day becomes an adventure in faith, when we look for more than what we physically see.

Y'all, I don't want to waste for a minute the opportunities I have every day to be used by God for Kingdom purposes. No, instead I want to see His Kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven. Yes and Amen? Can you imagine? What if every day I {you} really was {were} pumped, mornings and circumstances no longer our excitement meter? Settle on this, friends: You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13). Well, that's reason enough for me, Ladies and Gents.

Just try it. (wink)

I'm so pumped!
