A Re-post: "Try a Little Tenderness"

*This a re-post that answers the Faith Barist Jam question, What attracts you to Jesus?*

I love stories in the Bible of Jesus and women. There is somethings special about seeing how Jesus related to women. I'm sure it has something to do with me being a woman. But I can't help myself, I love the stories of the adulterous woman, of the woman who washed Jesus feet with her tears, and of the woman with the issue of blood. It may just be my romantic side, but I have to believe that Jesus was the most tender man to ever live.

Have a look:

John 7:53-8:11 (adulterous woman)
Luke7:36-50 (woman who anoints)
Luke 8:42b-48 (woman with issue of blood)

There is no denying that God created men and women differently. We think differently and we relate differently. Tenderness goes a long way with a woman just ask Sinatra and Buble. I'm not a man, but I don't think tenderness has quite the same effect on them. But Jesus tenderly offered healing to everyone He encountered- men and women. You want to know how to treat people, how to be a Godly husband or wife, or how to grow spiritually? Look at how Jesus lived his earthly life.

Biblical manhood and womanhood is wrapped up in the person of Jesus- respect, love, and submission. Both His love and His submission was to the point of death...

Accepting the tenderness of God is sometimes hard for me. Unfortunately, too often I shrink back in fear like the woman with the issue of blood did when Jesus called out to her. She was fearful because she reached out and "took" his power to heal her. But Jesus response was, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace". I love that!

These beautiful stories make me want to break out singing, "Women do get weary....but when she's weary just try a little tenderness".

In His Love,

Jennifer

I love these stories too, and I think in our day and culture we totally take for granted how much of Jesus' ministry was devoted to women and how many New Testament scriptures tell their stories. At different times in my life, it is amazing how I have completely related to these women (currently I am in the shoes of the 3rd), and it "wows" me how perfectly these stories can speak to my heart and remind me that God created our hearts this way in the first place.

Absolutely! I can't say enough about how much I love reading Jesus' heart for women.

I've related to all three too. Don't you love:

Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” (47-48)

Crissy, thank you so much!

It excites me that I'm not the only one who gets a little weepy when they think about the woman with the issue of blood shrinking back. It's purely beautiful!

Amen, girl!
