"Such Knowledge is Too Wonderful for Me"

You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it (Psalm 139:5-6).

It's too much.

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast (Psalm 139:7-10).

The season can get tiring, the desert dries us out, and the road keeps winding- even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast (v. 10). If you were raised in church, you have heard from infancy that he never leaves nor forsakes us (Deut 31:8), which is the honest truth, literally. And yet, we're jaded to it's truth. Maybe that's just me. I can walk all day with my mind on my circumstances with little awareness of God's presence. I know He's there, but I struggle along as if it's my responsibility to keep "life" together. The abundant life walks as Enoch did- with God (Hebrews 11:5, Genesis 5:22).

I. Want. What. Enoch. Had.

Is God any different today? Does He desire His any less?

In him {Jesus Christ} and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence (Ephesians 3:12, emphasis mine).

No, ma'am. No, sir.

You are my friends if you do what I command. no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command: Love each other.

The veil has torn (Matthew 27:51). It's what we celebrate this time of year. Love that says, "I will never leave you, no matter how you feel about the matter- we're friends." Some times I have to stop- stop the going, stop the talking, stop the working- and remember where He is.

You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast  (Psalm 139:5-10).

Leaves me in awe of Him.

In His Name,
Jennifer

Hey there, friend! Love these words here. You so eloquently weave verses in with your own words. Love that!

Psalm 139:9-10 are among my favorite verses. So Simple yet so profound.

And Enoch, the description that He walked with God, I hope that my life could be described that way, but at times it feels like I have so far to go!
